Style File: Quilted

September 21, 2013

It has been a crazy past two weeks for us, so the hubby and I decided to drop everything and take a few hours to unwind. We could have just cozied up with a movie and popcorn in our PJ's, but we made this resolution a few months back to do a proper date night at least once a month. Getting dressed  and heading out makes a huge difference - takes a lot of extra effort, but it's worth it ;). I may have slipped on some heels and leather skinnies, but I was still extra comfy and cozy in this over sized quilted sweatshirt - definitely felt relaxed yet polished!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Currently Craving: Bargain Brass Accents

September 18, 2013

My love for brass knows no bounds. It's warm. It's glamorous. It makes a statement. It adds the perfect dose of "color" into neutral spaces like ours. Here are my top 5 brass accents at the moment - all are such a steal!

1. Threshold Wood and Brass Finish Bar Cart $129.99
Target does it again. And again. And again. While everyone was busy shopping the Phillip Lim collection, I was perusing the new fall home accents - I want almost everything! On the top of my list is this gorgeous mid century modern bar cart. PERFECTION. A bit glam, a bit rustic - all rolled into one vintage inspired accent piece. I can think of a million ways to use this over the years - next to our dining table for serving up cocktails or dessert, parked beside our bed as a nightstand, or as a functional cart in our home office or even the nursery! And while you're there, why not pick up this lamp as well:

2. Nate Berkus Classic Task Lamp $54.99
What's not to love? Clean modern lines in a retro finish. Contemplating this for my home office!

3. Urban Outfitters Triple Tiered Pendant  $64
I know, right? Looks way more expensive than it is! Such a beauty - perfect to hang on either side of the bed, or hung above a small dining table.

4. Urban Outfitters Hexagon Towel Ring  $14
What a steal! Such a great little accent to add a modern touch in any bathroom. I'd also re purpose this and hang a couple of them on a wall to organize my scarves.

5. West Elm Sculpted Geo Console $499
The priciest item on my list, but it is still such a great deal! It's a work of art in itself. Would be perfect as our bedside table.

What are your favorite picks? Thanks for dropping by! :)

In My Closet: Sneakers and Sweatshirts

September 17, 2013

Comfy is the new black this season. I am definitely all for this trend. Been grabbing over sized jackets and cozy sweatshirts left and right. Also caved and purchased a pair of Nike camo kicks I've been eyeing - soooo comfortable! I'll be pairing the sweatshirts with leather leggings, these sneakers (day), and  these heels (night).

I can always count on Forever 21 for on-trend basics at such a bargain (all under $20)! Couldn't pass up the fun accessories either. Lately I've been loving minimalist and simple jewelry.

PS- My resident photographer (aka hubby) has been on vacation, that on top of the fact work and being a mom has been keeping me extra  busy these days means I haven't had a chance to take any outfit shots or share my latest hauls (this is not even half of what I've picked up recently!).  Hoping to post more this week.

Thanks for dropping by!

September 07, 2013

So here I am - pretty much ready for fall and itching to wear all my favorite cool season ensembles. San Francisco unfortunately, wants to hang on to every bit of summer. Today was HOT. I mean, H O T...really hot for September. Thankfully it cooled down to the perfect temp right before we took off for dinner. I'm wearing the amazing Alexander Wang score from Nordstrom Rack (soooo deceptively cushy), my latest HM score - a wool hat, and my current fave shopping tote from Cuyana. Can't tell you how easy and comfortable this outfit was. Felt like I stepped out in my fave pair of PJ's. :)
