Style File: Vania Romoff

January 25, 2014

We celebrated my best friend's Rocio and Tristan's official wedding yesterday. It was such a beautiful and elegant affair, set in the backyard of her grandfather's estate. Still have to go through all the photos (and of course, ask for her approval before I post!) - but for now, I can share what I wore.

Local, Filipino designer Vania Romoff created this custom dress for me. I can't tell you how much I love it. Vania has a way of making women feel amazing with her designs - often described as architectural, modern yet timeless and ultimately flattering. I had planned on wearing something else, but decided this was actually a better choice considering the unusually super chilly Manila weather. The dress is so comfortable and I felt so confident wearing it. Love that I can take it from wedding to date night to cocktails with friends. But most of all, I love that it really reflects my personal style. It's not easy finding a dress that is simple yet interesting and can be worn more than once.  I felt like I didn't need any accessories aside from a statement ring (this one is by Carissa Evangelista, borrowed from a friend) and a simple clutch (bargain find!). These Zara wedges have been my go - to wedding heels for the past couple of years! They are extremely comfortable and great for garden settings. Aside from the shoes, I'm wearing Filipino designed and handcrafted pieces. Makes me really really proud.

This has turned out to be an incredibly fun and inspiring trip. In just ten days I've managed to visit a handful of local shops and designers, discover new favorite restaurants, and spend some quality time with friends and family. So sad to have missed a few people since it was really short and sweet - but that gives me more reason to come back again soon. I've got a lot more photos to share - can't wait to get it all up!

Thanks for dropping by!

Postcards: Hello From Manila

January 22, 2014

Greetings from Manila! This is a short but surely sweet 10-day visit, but I've managed to pack a good amount of down time. Been catching up with friends and family, visiting my favorite shops and restaurants - and even snuck in a bit of work while meeting with some local designers. My friend Vernice snapped this pic of me while we were touring Filipino interior designer Eric Paras' stunning showrooms, which I'll be featuring here soon. I've been running around comfortably in relaxed tops, shorts or pants and flats - perfect for the insanely good weather (it's neither warm nor chilly).

This past weekend my best friend had her intimate Catholic ceremony, and this coming Saturday will be her real, BIG day. I can't tell you how happy I am to be here for her. So grateful.

I am missing the hubby and my baby SO much. It was initially hard adjusting to "vacation" mode - I have to constantly remind myself that these kind of trips are good for a mama's  mind, body and soul. Feeling so refreshed and totally inspired at this point.

Thanks for dropping by! Hope you have a great rest of the week.

I am flying off to the Philippines for my best friends wedding and a little quality time with my girls. This is the first time I'll be traveling solo - no hubby or my Natalie. Needless to say, I am anxious and already missing them terribly!

When I travel, I keep my outfits extra simple and comfortable and take into consideration practicality.

These pants let me move yet are much dressier than sweats or leggings.
This shirt is comfy layered under this cozy silk-cashmere sweater.
These flats make it easy to get through security checkpoints.
These shades hide post-flight under eye bags without taking up much space.
A large roomy tote like this is perfect for carrying an extra jacket and reading material.
This carry on makes traveling hassle free.

What do you like to wear while traveling? Thanks for dropping by!

New year, new look! Feeling fresh, light, and ready for 2014. The long ombre waves was fun while it lasted, but it was just too much maintenance. My ends felt try and brittle - gave me the perfect excuse to go for the chop and go back to my natural color. I've had super short pixie cuts to long styles throughout the years, so I no longer fear the scissors. Hair grows - have fun with it!

Speaking of fresh- I've been pairing these sneakers and the vintage coat with almost everything in my fall closet. The kicks give the coat a relaxed and modern vibe, something a little more unexpected compared to ballet flats or heels.

I'm not one to make a serious list of resolutions at the beginning of each year.  I do however try to set daily goals. That keeps me going and staying positive - sometimes taking things one step at a time can bring on bigger and better results!

Hope your year is getting off to a good start! TGIF and have a great weekend!
