Modern Boho

October 30, 2015

Channeling my inner Zoe and going for a simple retro-boho look. I've finally scored the perfect off-shoulder top from Modern Citizen - although a bit late, since it feels like Fall has finally arrived! It's always the little details that get me- the ties on the sleeves, the tunic length and even the perfect weight of the fabric (not too thin, not too thick). This one is perfectly versatile since it can be worn tucked in, loose, or even as a dress (if you're 5'4" like me or shorter).

I can't remember the last time I slipped into a pair of flared jeans, but I was instantly reminded of their leg lengthening and overall slimming benefits when I reached for these. Flared jeans + 5-inch platform sandals = supermodel vibes. This pair I'm wearing is roughly 8 years old and was a ridiculous bargain at less than $25 (yet they actually fit me way better than much pricier alternatives).

Soko x Pencils of Promise

October 29, 2015

I'm honored and thrilled to introduce you to Soko - a brand that ethically crafts modern jewelry to fashion a better world. By connecting artisans in Africa with consumers throughout the globe, they provide empowerment and impact emerging economies.

Soko's latest partnership is with the Pencils of Promise organization. They've designed a beautiful nine-piece capsule collection, handcrafted in natural and recycled brass. Not only does this support the local entrepreneurs, it also gives their children access to education - 20 percent of profits will help fund school builds in Ghana.

I'm wearing the V drop necklace and the V ring paired with my own gold jewelry. It's simple yet substantial when worn alone or effortlessly layered with other delicate chains and rings. They definitely make a beautiful and meaningful statement. I'm extremely passionate about this cause and excited about the possibilities it will bring for those in developing countries. Take a peek at the collection heresnag some of their stunning pieces, and help build someone a better future.

October 27, 2015

It's been unusually warm here in SF for this time of year. Typically we'd be layering up in full force. These days the crisp air and fog burn off by 10:00 am and we're left peeling off our scarves and jackets. To combat this, and at the same time refresh my wardrobe for the new season - I've been playing with a few summer favorites and pairing them with fall essentials. This lightweight pleated skort and knit turtleneck combo feels just right for this transitional weather. It's a fun, easy, and extremely comfortable look I'm loving at the moment. I bought the skort on a whim, and so glad I did since it's on major sale here. My gut told me it might end up in my return pile, but I was quite surprised with how many outfit combos I was able to pair it with. It feels great to switch things up and go with the unexpected.

Have you been experimenting with transitional outifts? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks so much for dropping by.

Wardrobe Tips

October 23, 2015

Sharing a few closet tips. They help keep my wardrobe in shape and make dressing up more efficient and fun!

I have this system where I do a big purge and organize twice a year - specially during a transition from one season to the next. Lots of unnecessary, ill-fitting and just plain old pieces have been hauled away to consignment shops and my local Goodwill recently. It feels great to constantly hit the refresh button. I tend to discover old favorites that become new again, and of course - make room for better, smarter pieces.

Then to ensure that each item in my closet actually gets worn, I plan about a week or two's worth of outfits in advance. Sunday nights are spent pulling pieces out and arranging them in a free standing clothing rack - where I can mix, match and style them all for the next couple of days. The rack is refreshed weekly or daily with something new. This has really helped me ensure I get the most out of what I buy. Anything that I feel I didn't touch on my rack gets tossed into a "return, sell or donate" pile.

I like to set up my dressing area like a boutique. Everything strategically and neatly organized to get ready fast. There's a spot to sit and put shoes on, ample storage for hanging and folded clothes, and boxes to keep smaller items clutter-free. This week's Friday Find: this gorgeous minimalist clothing rack. The shelves are perfect for displaying purses and accessories like scarves and belts. It'll really make the outfit planning more efficient, and at the same time make for a great decorative accent.

So Real

October 09, 2015

What I wear on most days is pretty simple. I stick to no-fuss comfortable and quality basics. To keep it all interesting, I like to amp up my shoes and accessories. Small but impactful details can really elevate an entire look. These Dior So Real sunnies are the perfect statement piece. It has this totally modern yet retro vibe and I feel insanely chic when I have them on.

Today's Friday Find: a very similar version for a fraction of the price here.

Friday Find: Easy Dress

October 02, 2015

From our recent trip to Los Angeles. I was cool and comfortable in this easy dress (under $20!) and sneakers for an entire day in Disneyland and California Adventure. It was Natalie's fourth visit and we had way too much fun this time around.  Seven is the most ideal age for a Disney trip. She currently has this adventurous spirit, is tall enough to get on the more daring rides (she enjoyed every single one of them....including the Tower of Terror!), and her energy was limitless.  I on the other hand, do not know how I got up the next day.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful weekend!
