Los Angeles

February 23, 2015

Sharing a few iPhone snaps of our afternoon in LA last weekend. We had about 3 hours to kill before our flight back to San Francisco and decided to hit up a few favorite spots. First stop - Melrose for some Alfred Coffee and Compartes Chocolates. Most shops were closed so we just strolled through the area. We enjoyed the perfect weather, the beautiful storefronts (Marant's flagship is pure perfection), and a Tobey Maguire encounter (he sat next to me at the coffee shop!).  Our last stop - the Louis Vuitton Series 2 exhibit. It was a fabulous and free art exhibit showcasing their SS15 collection and the  heritage behind the brand.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Thanks for dropping by.

5 Style Updates

February 19, 2015

I like to freshen up my look every few months with simple yet substantial pieces - the ones that take my closet classics up a notch with a certain je nais se quoi. Each season I filter what goes down the runway and pick out details that can work with my personal style and what I already have. I've been stalking the Spring and Fall 2015 shows and narrowed down the top 5 updates I'd like to incorporate into my wardrobe.

1 // FRINGE
Celine's Spring collection has taken this typical bohemian detail and elevated it into an architectural and sculptural look.

2 // HALF UP HAIR AND CIRCLE BARRETTES
The one accessory I'm coveting are Celine's circle barrettes. They are so simple, but make such a big statement. I'm loving the easy, fuss free look. It's especially perfect for my shorter hair length and the awkward growing out phase.

3 // SLIDES AND MULES
I've been pairing my slides (last seen here) with everything lately. They've gone from picking up Natalie at school, poolside in Palm Springs, to casual weekend brunches. Now I'm on the hunt for a great pair of mules that'll be just as versatile, as seen on The Row's Spring and Fall looks.

4 // CULOTTES
Another favorite from The Row - cropped pants and culottes. Paired with flats for casual everyday wear, or pointy toe pumps when the occasion calls.

5 // TIE WAIST DETAILS
This trend has been around for a couple seasons and it looks like it's here to stay. More favorites from The Row's Spring collection:

Spring Suede

February 17, 2015

These suede leather shorts are a great laid-back luxe alternative to my favorite denim cut-offs. They couldn't have been more perfect for our little escape to warmer temps in Palm Springs. I paired it with a simple flowy tee and heels for a casual yet polished look. Suede is having a major moment this spring/summer, specially in soft neutrals like this khaki hue. During the fall or our California winters, I plan to style it with over-the-knee boots and chunky knits.

Céline

New in. Is there anything better than Céline? Yes, Céline on sale! Latest loot scored at the Barneys and Saks outlet stores in Cabazon during our recent trip to Palm Springs. And to think we almost didn't make a stop for it! Glad to say that  both these pairs are extremely comfortable. I believe in investing in staples that will surely stand the test of time and will be something I'll reach for over and over again. Outlet, second hand and thrift shopping lets me indulge wiselyThankfully, these days we can score amazing deals year-round 24/7 with the click of a button.

The Ace Palm Springs

February 16, 2015

Snippets of our stay at The Ace hotel over the long weekend. When our friends Jen and Chris invited us to their Valentine's day wedding in Palm Springs, we took it as the perfect opportunity to escape and unwind. I had a very ambitious itinerary planned that included an architecture tour, checking out the vintage shops and stopping by the Modernism Week events. However, we had way too much  fun neglecting the alarm clock and indulging in some room service. We did get to squeeze in a delicious dinner at Workshop Kitchen, a trip to the aerial tram, and a pretty successful stop at the Cabazon Outlets (more details on that in another post!). It was a refreshing and much needed getaway.

I hope you had a lovely weekend! Thanks for dropping by.

The Row Pre Fall 2015

February 10, 2015

It's no surprise I'm smitten with the Olsen's pre fall collection.  This previous look of mine from November somewhat parallels the easy breezy aesthetic. Can you tell I'm just a tad bit obsessed with their signature relaxed tailoring and neutral layers? Two things: culottes and slides.
