Snaps from our recent  trip to the City of Roses with our best friends. We celebrated my birthday by eating our way through the city, checking out the local hotspots, supporting our Golden State Warriors on the road - and we even snuck in a hike by the falls. Four days definitely wasn't enough! Our Portland musts:

The Ace Hotel  |  The Nines  |  Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront

Sweet Treats
Blue Star Donuts (my new fave)  |  Voodoo Donuts  |  Salt and Straw (Olive oil ice cream!)

Pine State Biscuits  |   Pok Pok  |  Clyde Common  |  Ox

Coffee, Tea and Cocoa
Stumptown  |  Coava  |  Heart  |  Cacao (closest to authentic European hot chocolate!)  |  Tea Bar

Powell's Books | Union Way | Frances May | Alder & Co | Aesop
Table of Contents | Kat and Maouche (Great selection of vintage Berber rugs!)

Multomah Falls | Pittock Mansion | International Rose Test Garden

Thrifted coat (similar here). Modern Citizen sweater and pants. Adidas sneakers. Mansur Gavriel backpack via Barneys. Christian Dior Sunglasses. FujiFilm camera and lens.

5 Mom Essentials

April 18, 2016

Gone are the days of lugging around an extra large tote filled with baby essentials. I no longer need to carry diapers, clothes, blankies or bottles. Natalie is already 7 and (thankfully) my daily mom necessities have been significantly reduced. While I carry less, there are a few items I still need to pop into my purse (aside from my can't-leave-the-house-without water bottle) for myself, the hubby and our babe. I gravitate towards products that are all-natural yet luxurious and effective.

Modern Citizen Crossbody Bag. Gifted mini leather zip pouch (similar here)

All Tied Up

April 16, 2016

These vintage high-waisted jeans are all I've been wearing lately. Love how they work well with my cashmere sweaters (half-tucked to help lengthen the legs!), cropped tees and this waist-cinching wrap top. It feels perfectly undone, yet somewhat polished.

Sneaking in a trip to the beach and a picnic at the Presidio, thanks to this gorgeous spring weather. Thanks so much for dropping by! Have a great weekend.

Zara jeans, another favorite here. Need Supply wrap shirt. Old Navy slides.

Style Study: The Kick Flare

April 07, 2016

My style has evolved over the years. Sartorial mishaps, lifestyle changes, my mood, motherhood, age, body insecurities..... these all affect how I want to dress.  While I like to dip my toes into trends, I prefer to tread cautiously. There's comfort in my core aesthetic of the simple yet special, timeless yet current. However, change excites me and I enjoy experimenting. I'll filter anything that gives me horrible grade school flashbacks, camel toes, and whatever adds a completely unnecessary 15 lbs to my frame.

Since my color palette pretty much stays the same, I like to refresh my looks through silhouettes and unique details. Most of the time it only takes one stand-out item to re-do an entire wardrobe. For tops it could be an interesting tie detail, neckline or sleeve construction. For bottoms its hemlines and the shape or cut. Lately I've been eyeing mom jeans and the denim trend of 2016 - the kick flare, or cropped flare.

After realizing that they are extremely figure flattering, pairs effortlessly with flats or sneakers, and can be dressed up or down..... I ordered my first pair.  According to WhoWhatWear, they should fall right at the ankle and fraying should be kept at the hemline.  I'll be breaking these in for the next few days and will hopefully get to sneak in some outfit shots this weekend.

There are endless styling options, but I'm eager to pair these with my go-to favorites: slim fitting long sleeve tees or sweaters, block-heeled sandals, and a classic coat.

I've been extremely busy adjusting to my new schedule and work load. I want to thank you for all the continued support despite these long breaks between posts! Still trying to find my rhythm here, but very happy to have you join me on this journey.

Be sure to drop by The Edit , since I update that section pretty often. Thanks for dropping by!
